Indic Knowledge Audio Project

Indic Knowledge Audio Project

This initiative aims to produce high‑quality, freely accessible audiobooks to raise historical and cultural awareness among contemporary Indian society, with a special focus on students and youth.

These audiobooks will be distributed at no cost through digital channels to remove economic and accessibility barriers and to encourage deeper engagement with India’s civilizational, cultural, and intellectual heritage.

Scope of the Project

The project will focus on converting selected works of history, culture, civilizational thought, and related domains into professionally recorded audiobooks.

All audiobooks produced under this project will be released for free, non-commercial listening and sharing, subject to applicable legal and ethical constraints.

To ensure listener trust and long‑term archival value, all audiobooks under this initiative will adhere to professional technical and performance standards

Access and Distribution

All completed audiobooks will be made available free of charge through one or more of the following:

– The foundation’s official website.

– Public podcast platforms.

– Open digital libraries or archives where appropriate.

Donor Recognition Framework

The project is donation-supported. Since the audiobooks are free for all, without donors production is not possible:

Supporters (₹1,000 and above)

Any individual contributing ₹1,000 or more to the Audiobook Initiative will receive:

  • Access to the audiobook in a premium distribution format, which may include:
    • High‑quality audiobook format files
    • These donors will be sent the complete audiobook as a single download upon release, while free listeners on public platforms will receive one chapter per week.

(Note: The content itself will eventually be free for everyone; this tier is about format, convenience, and early access rather than exclusivity.)

Patrons (₹10,000 and above)

Any individual contributing ₹10,000 or more will be recognized as a Patron for that project and will receive:

  • All benefits of the Supporters tier.
  • A vocal honorable mention in the audiobook itself, typically in credits/ acknowledgments section.
  • Their name (or chosen form of acknowledgment) will also be listed on the project webpage or credits page for the audiobook, where applicable.

Donors may choose to remain anonymous; in such cases, their contribution will not be named in the audio credits, but will still support the initiative.

Institutional & Corporate Sponsorship

Organizations contributing ₹50,000 or more  will receive:

  • Logo/name placement in audiobook credits and project webpage
  • Recognition as "Presenting Sponsor" for that specific title
  • Opportunity to align brand with cultural preservation and education

Contributions are allocated exclusively to:

  • Studio recording and mixing costs
  • Professional personnel fees
  • Platform hosting and distribution infrastructure

No funds will used for non-production expenses.

Impact Metrics & Transparency

To maintain donor trust and demonstrate social impact, we will:

  • Publish reports on audiobooks produced, listening hours, & audience reach
  • Share anonymized listener feedback and testimonials
  • Provide detailed breakdowns of how donor funds are allocated (recording costs, mixing/mastering, distribution infrastructure, archival)

Publisher & Rights-Holder Partnership

We collaborate with publishers and rights-holders who share our mission of cultural preservation. For works still under copyright, we seek explicit permission or partnership agreements that allow non-commercial audio production. Publishers benefit from:

  • Expanded reach to audiences who may not engage with print formats
  • Attribution and links to purchase physical/digital editions in all audiobook metadata and distribution channels
  • Contribution to cultural literacy without commercial conflict (audiobooks distributed freely, print editions remain commercially available)
